ACIP founded (1964)
The CDC created the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to give federal vaccine recommendations a scientific, independent base. The panel has reviewed every vaccine in the U.S. schedule since.
The committee became the authoritative source for official U.S. vaccine guidance.
For 62 years, its recommendations were adopted as federal policy each respiratory season.
This is the first respiratory season in the panel's history when it has been unable to meet—the exact void the four medical societies filled.
