Guangxi's Zuojiang river at Chongzuo peaked at 108.87 meters on August 26, its highest level since 1955. Typhoon Narra's rains, which displaced more than 54,000 people, pushed the river 7.67 meters above flood stage before the storm weakened.

A slab of glacier broke off a steep Himalayan slope near the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday morning and fell roughly a kilometer to the valley floor. The impact shook the ground like a magnitude 5.2 earthquake and produced enough meltwater to flood the river system below within minutes.
