Ed Markey, 80, won Massachusetts' Democratic Senate primary on September 1, defeating Rep. Seth Moulton, 47, who built his campaign on the argument that the party needed younger leaders. The Associated Press called the race about 30 minutes after polls closed, with Markey taking roughly 70% of the vote.

Dan Koh, a former Biden White House aide, won Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District Democratic primary on September 1, 2026, beating five rivals for the open North Shore seat. The seat opened when incumbent Seth Moulton gave it up to challenge Sen. Ed Markey, a race he lost the same night.
